The Pirates and the Cardinals meet for one last battle today at PNC Park. The game will start at 4:05 p.m. and will be broadcast by AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh and KDKA (sorry, no freebie today).

Joe Musgrove (0-5, 5.74 ERA, 34 K) hits the mound for the Bucs today, while the Redbirds will send Jack Flaherty (3-2, 5.52 ERA, 33 K) to the hill. If this matchup looks familiar, it’s because these two went up against each other in the first game of the season ... two months ago.

That was weird to type.

In other news, the Pirates tweeted that Kevin Newman is on the 10-day IL with a bruised knee. Considering that the word “surgery” was batted around a bit yesterday in connection with Newm’s name, this is a positive thing. Right now, we’ll take anything positive.
