With October winding down and postseason baseball heating up, we figured that it would be fun to craft a list of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ top 10 postseason moments of all-time.
This is an opportunity to bring back some nostalgia and spread some positivity as we tune into the World Series.
Coming in at No. 2 on our list...
The 1979 Pirates became the fourth team in World Series history to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win it all, and they also became the last team to win a Game 7 on the road until 2014. In addition, it was a replay of the 1971 World Series, in which the Pirates also won in seven games over the Baltimore Orioles.
Willie Stargell won the the Series MVP after batting .400 with a record seven extra base hits, including going 4-for-5 in the decisive Game 7 with a single, two doubles, and a two-run homer to close out the Orioles.
