MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates-Workouts

If you’ve been jonesing for live baseball—and after this winter, who hasn’t?—your wait is nearly at an end, as the Pirates released the 2021 spring training broadcast schedule this morning.

Although five games can only be seen on pirates.com, probably by way of MLB.tv, eighteen games will be heard on The Fan 93.7 and both KDKA’s stations (1020 AM and 100.1 FM).

Most importantly for Bucs Dugout purposes, fourteen games will be on AT&T SportsNet, starting with Tuesday’s 1:00 game against the Tigers. That means ... GAME THREAD. Dust off your best GIFs and wisecracks, it’s about that time.

Note that almost all of the ST games have 1 p.m. starts, with the exceptions of March 10th’s game against the Yankees, which starts at 6:30 p.m., and two games against the Orioles on March 19th and 25th that will start at 6 p.m. The 3/19 game will be televised, the others will be on the Fan/KDKA.

We’re all looking forward to questions being answered. How does Ke’Bryan Hayes look? What prospects are ramping up their campaigns to make the team this year? Can Todd Frazier and Dustin Fowler lend some veteran leadership? Who wins the shortstop battle? Did Gregory Polanco tell the truth about not breaking his wrist in winter ball? Who’s going to be the staff ace?

And, most importantly, is Vanessa Hudgens going to fulfill this prophecy?

If nothing else, there will be sunshine and baseball. And after last year, a dose of sunshine and baseball is what everyone needs.
