The Pittsburgh Pirates were scheduled to start an AL road trip against the Detroit Tigers tonight in a battle of two classic ball clubs, but the opening game was postponed due to snowfall today in Detroit.
That means that there will now be a double-header tomorrow, with game one starting at 2:10pm and the second half scheduled to get underway at 6:40pm.
Apparently, there was some pretty nasty weather in Detroit today. I haven’t seen any video, but Tigers manager AJ Hinch had this to say:
“We’re hopeful that clearer minds prevail tonight and we’re not out there with 30-degree weather and rain, sleet and snow. But that brings up the pitching situation for tomorrow and position players and things like that.”
That situation will obviously be the same for both teams, though, and the Pirates are still planning on starting Tyler Anderson in game one, while the Tigers will roll with Michael Fulmer.
It was originally supposed to be Mitch Keller versus Spencer Turnbull on Wednesday. The Tigers have confirmed that Turnbull will still give it a go in the nightcap, while the Pirates have yet to make a decision on their evening starter.
Make sure you stop back to BD tomorrow and check the game thread. We’ll be here!
