The Pittsburgh Pirates are officially enjoying their longest win streak of the young season after raising the Jolly Roger for the third straight time following their 2-1 win over the Kansas City Royals.

The Pirates wasted no time getting on the board after Colin Moran hit his first of three hits tonight in the first inning, scoring Bryan Reynolds to give the Buccos a lead.

While the Buccos struggled to get much offense outside of that Moran RBI single, Tyler Anderson piled in his best start in 2021.

Anderson pitched six innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts in another solid start.

However, the Pirates needed an answer to break the tie, and they got that in a Wilmer Difo pinch hit single to score Jacob Stallings and give the Pirates the lead.

The one-run lead was enough for Sam Howard and Rich Rodriguez to close the door and seal the twelfth win for the Buccos this year.

Through 23 games last year, the Pirates were 6-17. This year, they’ve doubled their win total and are above .500 for the first time since Opening Day. Times are fun in the ‘Burgh right now.

The Pirates will look to seal the two-game sweep tomorrow night at PNC Park. Mitch Keller has the first pitch at 6:35 p.m. EST.
