Tonight, the Pirates will get their first look at the Cardinals this season. The Cardinals, who most definitely have playoff aspirations, are currently just a half-game up on the Pirates in the standings.

John Gant will get the start for them this evening. Gant had his best outing of the year in his last start, tossing six scoreless innings against the Reds. Although the ERA looks tidy thus far, Gant is due for some regression. At this point, his K-BB ratio is an abysmal 5.7 percent. Furthermore, he has given up a ton of hard contact this season. His average exit velocity allowed is 92.8 mph. With tougher pitching matchups on the horizon this series, the Pirates will need to jump on Gant.

For the Bucs, JT Brubaker takes the mound. Brubaker has been the Pirates' best starter to start the season. Although he took the loss in his last outing, Brubaker was still impressive over seven innings against the Twins. Look for him to continue his success tonight.

One last note on the Cardinals, Harrison Bader will be making his season debut after returning from an injury.

Go Bucs.
