The Pirates, who are 1-9 over their last 10 entering today’s slate of games, will look to utilize the momentum from game one, in which the Bucs knocked off the Rox, 7-0, into game two of today’s doubleheader.

The Pirates’ foe in game two, Austin Gomber, is coming off an excellent start in New York against the Mets in which the lefty went eight innings for the Colorado cause, allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out eight.

The Pirates will counter with the up-and-down Mitch Keller. Keller continues to try to find his stuff at the major league level; too good for Triple-A and uncomfortable in the major leagues, à la Tyler Glasnow, Keller’s future with Pittsburgh gets murkier by the start.

At the conclusion of this weekend series against the Rockies, the Pirates will briefly depart Pittsburgh for two games in Kansas City against the Royals before returning home for a long homestand, with visits from the Miami Marlins for four and the Los Angeles Dodgers for three.
