The Pirates and Nationals wrap up their series at 4:05 this afternoon at Nationals Park, with the Bucs hoping to snap a nine-game losing streak and avoid consecutive sweeps. Hope springs eternal in our nation’s capital, right?
Chase De Jong is on the mound today for the Bucs. He’s still looking for his first win as a Pirate, but in his last outing against the Brewers, he walked four in five innings, although he kept the Brew Crew to two runs. For the Nationals, Paolo Espino will take the ball. Since Max Scherzer’s out with a groin injury, Espino, normally a reliever, has taken the Nats’ ace’s spot in the rotation. He’s started in the past, so it’s not a new thing for him.
Let’s enjoy some baseball on this beautiful day. The game thread’s open, I’ll be on Twitter @bucsdugout, and, as always, LET’S GO BUCS!
