The Buccos are getting a little pep in their step today.

The team officially activated 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes from the 60-day injured list and optioned SP Wil Crowe to AAA-Indianapolis.

Hayes has been away from the Pirates since April 3 with a wrist injury he suffered in the second game of the season against the Cubs. He returns to the lineup tonight against the Miami Marlins and will bat second behind Adam Frazier, playing third base.

Wil Crowe goes back to AAA-Indianapolis in the corresponding move after making seven starts, going 0-4 with a 7.26 ERA.

The team also placed SP JT Brubaker on the bereavement list, keeping him out of the rotation this weekend. The team announced that Mitch Keller on Friday, Chase De Jong on Saturday and Chad Kuhl on Sunday.

Hayes is the first of three highly-anticipated returns to the lineup, as Colin Moran and Phillip Evans are also close to coming back. This is the first step in getting the Pirates back to full strength and it should be exciting to see Hayes back on the hot corner.
