The Pirates are back to work on Friday night as they open a three-game weekend slate with the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park.
The Giants come in with the best record in baseball at 61-35, and is the only team in the MLB that surpassed the 60-win mark so far this season. A group thought of as “cellar dwellers” at the beginning of the season, they have put on one of the biggest underdog stories anyone has seen in a long while.
Pittsburgh, on the other hand, comes into this game with the fourth-worst record in baseball. To add salt to the wound, they were just swept by the WORST team in baseball.
However, they send Chad Kuhl to the bump tonight who’s had some success in his last three games. Kuhl is 3-3 with a 3.19 ERA in those games, and is coming off a win against the New York Mets on July 16. He allowed just one unearned run over five innings.
Opposing him is someone Pittsburgh fans know all too well...
Let’s see if the Bucs can put the “Diamondback Debacle” behind them and start this series off with a win.
ROSTER MOVES: The Pirates announced that RHP Luis Oviedo was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is back on the Major League roster. To make room on the active roster, RHP Max Kranick was optioned to Indianapolis.
