In a move that should surprise approximately zero people, Cody Ponce, he of yesterday’s cringe-inducing first inning, was optioned back to Indianapolis today. Friend of BD Nick Mears was brought up, so there’s someone to cheer for.
As I noted in the game thread, I was at the game yesterday. I’m not going to lie, it was tough to watch. However, it was an absolutely perfect day for a live baseball game, so it was still enjoyable, even as we all groaned, booed, and told cheering Brewers fans around us to shut up (that didn’t work) (also, that wasn’t me, that was the guy behind us. Really).
But today is the Fourth of July and a new day. Let’s harbor a bit of hope that the Pirates can take at least one from the Brewers, although Freddy Peralta’s presence on the mound for the Crew might give one pause. Tyler Anderson goes to the mound for the Buccos. Godspeed, young man.
It’s another lovely day in the Burgh. Your game thread is open, I’ll be flitting between here and Twitter (@BucsDugout), and, as always, LET’S GO BUCS!!
