Chase De Jong takes the mound tonight against the Braves, while Max Fried takes the bump for the visiting team.
De Jong has lost each of his last three starts and gave up five earned runs in his last start Tuesday against the Rockies. Meanwhile, Fried is making his second start since returning from the injured list. He pitched well against the Pirates earlier in the year, tossing seven innings of one-run ball in a win on May 23.
The Pirates have another new face in the lineup. John Nogowski is making his Buccos debut and will bat fifth playing first base. Nogowski, 28, played in 19 games for the Cardinals this season, managing just one hit in 20 plate appearances. Tonight marks just the second career start for Nogowski and the first of the 2021 season.
BD community, this is your thread for tonight’s game. Enjoy!
