Bust aht the tanks!
Two of baseball’s worst teams collide in the opener of a three-game series tonight at PNC Park. Not only are both teams fighting for a chance to move up in next year’s MLB Draft, but the Pirates will have to do so in the middle of a roster frenzy.
Last time the Diamondbacks and Pirates faced off, Arizona left the Pirates snake-bitten with a three-game sweep, outscoring them 21-11, back in July.
Gregory Polanco, who was placed on outright waivers last night, is starting in right field, and to be honest, I don't see anyone claiming him in the middle of the game.
On a brighter note, Michael Chavis will make his Pirates debut tonight, batting seventh and playing second base. Among other roster moves today:
- OF Anthony Alford was re-instated from the 10-day injured list.
- INF Hoy Park was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
- INF Rodolfo Castro was optioned to Double-A Altoona.
