One thing I really enjoy about the 2021 Pirates is that they’ve played the role of party poopers so well. Last night, it looked like the division-leading Brewers were going to spank them—starter Adrian Houser had them no-hit through six innings and change but was taken out after 104 pitches. The Bucs came back not once, but twice, with the unlikely hero being Gregory Polanco, who made an excellent catch on what looked to be a surefire Eduardo Escobar homer and drove in the winning run in the tenth inning. You go, El Coffee.
Among all the new faces on the Pirates, it’ll be good to see a familiar one return today as Steven Brault takes the mound for the first time this season. Whatever you did to your lat, Squid, don’t do it again. The always-tough Freddy Peralta goes for the Brew Crew.
It’s weekday afternoon baseball—come goof off with us, either here or on Twitter, and, as always, LET’S GO BUCS!!
