How Many of the Players Drafted Make It to The Show?

I always wondered about how many of the draft prospects actually make it and stay. So I did some calculations and here are my results. I looked at all of draft picks from 2000 to 2004 (>7000 players). My rationale is that by now these players have either made it or quit. The numbers are rounded off so the total will be off by a a point or so.

For the > 7000 Players Drafted 2000 to 2004:
Percent Who Never Made it to The Show: 86%
Players Who Made It: 14%

Of the > 7000 Players Drafted
Played < 2 Season: 4%
Played 2 to 4 Years: 3.5%
Played 5 to 9 Years: 4%
Played 10 Years or More: 3%

If I focus in on the Top 100 Players drafted 2000 to 2004:
Percent Who Never Made it to The Show: 50%
Players Who Made It: 50%

Of the Top 100 Players Drafted
Played < 2 Season: 9%
Played 2 to 4 Years: 11%
Played 5 to 9 Years: 15%
Played 10 Years or More: 15%

The players picked in the top 100 definitely have a much better chance that players drafted later. However this group still has < 30% chance of making it and getting a chance to be a FA.
